Intro

It was once described to me by a lecturer in my HDip in Psychology that it ‘all boils down to communication’. For your staff at all levels to prosper, they need to be effective communicators.

Getting communication right across your teams facilitates you as a business to prosper. Getting it wrong in a business causes bottlenecks and conflict.

Program

Again the most effective work in this area tends to be the most bespoke session, tailored to your specific needs. That being said, the following is a sample six-session programme to develop staff across all key elements of communication. All sessions are between 2-3 hours in length.

Listening Skills
2-3 hours
We explore and practice the three most important modes of listening.
Session 2
Communicating in Key Moments
2-3 hours
We introduce, and allow participants to practice, a four-step tool that they can use in any key situation to communicate their message effectively.
Session 3
Developing Staff
2-3 hours
We share communication tools and concepts to support participants to be the most effective coach possible.
Session 4
Presenting with Impact
2-3 hours
We offer a structure to use to deliver the best possible presentations and give participants the chance to try it in-session.
Session 5
Practicing Presentation Delivery
2-3 hours
A session dedicated to practising the learning of the previous session (as well as sharing learnings from all the previous sessions).

Frequently Asked Questions

Is group sessions or 1-1 support the best way to go?

Both have a role to play. Group work can be helpful, especially when it relates to a team. 1-1 support, which in essence is coaching, is incredibly impactful for communications.

How long are the sessions?

As a general rule, shorter is better than longer. We tend not to do sessions longer than half a day. It will depend on what is trying to be achieved.

Do your sessions involve role-play?

We hugely believe in the power of practice in sessions of this nature. That being said, it is unlikely that it will involve role-play. Again, it will depend on the requirement.

To what level of staff do you tend to deliver communication sessions?

It is our belief that the earlier you can learn about communications the better. So we deliver sessions on this topic to early careers groups right the way through to leadership teams.

Do you do presentations skills work?

Yes, we do so both for groups and for individuals. We see a growing number of coaching requests come in for this topic.
